Monsterbaby Legwarmers Tutorial
My last tutorial here.
So I've been wanting some short legwarmers that were all cyberpunk/raver with a hint of goth and then I saw Kerli's legwarmers for her SXSW show and got inspired to just make my own. The results of this project are below~
Let's get started~
Firstly I just got started with some white synthetic fur legwarmers I bought off a cyberpunk site for a costume three years ago & had stored in my closet.
I suggest buying these online as they can be a bit difficult to find in shops.
Ebay is your best bet for some cheap ones, I'd say.
Try searching with keywords 'monster', 'fur', 'legwarmers', 'synthetic', 'cyber', 'rave', etc.
Secondly I put them on and measured how short I wanted them based in proportion to the length of my leg, then I cut them accordingly. This will be very messy and your room will look a hot mess after, haha. I suggest doing this step outside.
If your fur isn't in tangles like mine were, try and separating the fur you want cut off from the fur you'd like to keep with a brush or comb, it will help preserve some length and cover the cut-off point better.
Thirdly- after I was covered in synthetic fur, I decided to go for a bit more color so I stripped the fur off of this old party hat I've had forever and cut it into pieces as trim for the top of the legwarmers.
I suggest separating the fur here also before cutting.
Make sure you measure the area around the top of the legwarmer before cutting any fur trim for it to avoid wasting any. There's spandex at the top of each legwarmer for it to fit most leg sizes so you don't have to worry about measuring your leg as it's only necessary to trim around the area below this spandex material.
Once I had my pieces cut out, I just attached them carefully.
You can sew them on, glue them on, even safety pin them on. I used safety pins for mine just in case I might wanna' take it off and switch colors later.
Lastly I decided to decorate the legwarmers with charms and chains I safety pinned on. In whatever you do, just remember to have fun with it and form it into whatever you want it to be. This is the most fun part~
Then try em' on and...
YOU'RE FINISHED!
My finished pair:
Doing these & recieving such great feedback from you all has really motivated & inspired me to just keep marching on, manifesting my visions into reality. Expect regular posts & tutorials from now on, I'm addicted, haha.
Any questions? Feel free to drop me a private message or leave a visitor message on my profile.

Thank you! ^w^
Aw, nonsense. You should wear whatever you want to no matter age, size, etc. I've been overweight all my life and have struggled with weightloss and I can tell you- I have the same doubts about half of what I wear, haha.
I'd say find you some that you like, put them on, then decide if you'd like to cut them short or keep them long based on how they look on you- That's what I did.
