Monsterbaby Gloves Tutorial
So I've been away for a while in deep thought (and depression, not gonna' lie) but I'm back now and with a new tutorial as promised!
My last tutorial here.
So, I went to Hot Topic recently with my boyfriend for my birthday and saw they were having a clearance blowout. I couldn't resist these hot pink fur mittens I found for way cheap and I was inspired to make something using them.
Let's get started, shall we~
So first of all as I mentioned above, I just started out with some hot pink synthetic (monster) fur mittens.
You can get these for just $2.99 for a limited time here.
Next is the messiest part- cutting them to make the mittens into fingerless gloves. First put them on and measure where you want your fingers to stick out on the gloves, then mark your desired length on the back of the glove for accuracy while you cut. Make sure you do the thumb area, too. First though, brush/comb separate the cut off area of the fur from the area you want to keep to protect the length.
Don't be afraid to cut them, any uneven spots you see in the back we will fix up later.
So after you've inhaled several synthetic hot pink fibers, and your room looks like a dyed cat just got shaved, it's time to sew (or glue) down the uneven parts on the back of the glove for a more polished look. (I glued mine down with Beacon 527 glue because I couldn't find any E6000 and sewed them down also.)
I also trimmed the stretchy area around the wrist and got help sewing that area also.
Next for some added contrast and color, I found this old party hat I've had forever and stripped the fur off of it.
Then it was just up to cutting the pieces to the desired length, measuring and adding those to the gloves with glue or sewing. I used glue again, this time. (If you decide to take this step just remember to separate the fur before cutting as we did before and also only apply glue to the padded underside of the fur.)
After that, something still seemed missing so I cut up a bracelet made of plastic spikes and I painted them with nail polish. I had no neon green polish so I just used this neon yellow polish I had lying around, then I finished them off with a topcoat for a bit of gloss.
After they were fully dried, I glued/sewed them down where I wanted on the gloves.
This is the decorating part so just remember to have fun with it and add whatever you like.
Then...
YOU'RE DONE!
My finished pair:
As always, I hope you enjoyed and I'm looking forward to making you more tutorials for things I've created recently. The next one will be posted in a day or two and I have a lot more creations lined up so I'm excited to share. if you have any questions, feel free to drop me a private message or leave a visitor message on my profile.

I wish I could get you a pair, then.
Seems they sold out, though.
I'm wondering if I did that by posting the link here... xD

No problem, Mother Snyder!
I really appreciate your thanks, though.
I know the detail I put in these tutorials is all worthwhile when I hear things like this.
You don't owe me at all, though, hun, it's all for you guys. ^^

Yeah sure! Should I post a pic here? It's not that worthy of a tutorial. (and I don't know how to put more than one picture up haha)BornViolet wrote:cindragale wrote:oh wow, I absolutely love it! These are gorgeous!
I just got a big taste of nostalgia, it reminds me of that popular children's book The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister with all those pretty sequins (scales). Nice job!

Thanks so much, Mimi!
Quite a few hours, I'd say. Stripping the fur off that one hat and avoiding inhaling it took the longest out of anything else.

Re: Monsterbaby Gloves Tutorial
Thanks guys! Oh the rainbow fish! That must have been a huge unconcious inspiration, it was our lecture in primary school. I remember. Haha.
I first started with superglue but soon I realized it was too expensive and it's not necessary to use such a glue, so I switched to the cheap supermarket supposed-to-glue-everything-together glue. I didn't glue it together all at once, I just worked on it whenever the opportunity was given. Or to put it differently, whenever I was bored. Overall it wasn't that much of a work, just glueing sequins to a glove, really. I'm a patient person, haha.

Sorry for the ridiculously late reply, I thought no one else had posted & I haven't been on in a good bit...
Haha, I bet it was & that's great!
Ah, haha, yes, I am guilty of using the 'bored card', too.
We have that in common, I am quite patient myself.
Thank you for your reply & for sharing. c:
