Tara's Jewelry <3
So, I just started doing this. Here is my first necklace. I made this one for my Grandmother.
I found making it pretty easy, but putting the clasps on at the end was very difficult. Especially to get the clasp tied close to where the beads stop. Feedback and suggestions are welcome!
I'm working on another necklace for myself. Very different from this one. I'll post it ASAP!

Thanks to both of you. Yeah it's very close to being done. I'll probably have it up before tonight.
"Key To My Heart"
Here's my second one. Just finished. I am totally in love with this one.
I was seeing these necklaces everywhere in stores with keys on them and they always caught my eye, but I could never find one that was exactly what I wanted. So I made one.

Re: Tara's Jewelry <3
I'm still brainstorming about a moonmark necklace. It's mostly the pendant that is hanging me up. Trying to find a way to make a pendant with moonmarks and what to make it from. It has to be perfect before I decide I'm finished. I'll have to go take a look around stores today.
I think I may start making matching earrings as well.
I should start taking orders for these things. Everyone keeps saying they want one. I'd have to charge a small amount depending on how how much the stuff I've used cost + shipping and handling. I'm a poor student so I can't make them for free. I would if I could. I'd love to make some for whoever wants one. Just let me make the moonmarks necklace and one or two more. So there is more to choose from.

"Angel Wing" Necklace
Here's the newest.
Loves this one Sort of a light airy feeling to it.
New key necklace coming next with a kind of gothic feel to it.

Re: Tara's Jewelry <3
I frickin love your jewelry! It's amazing how the cheapest things can turn into such beautiful things that people pay ridiculous prices for.
Re: Tara's Jewelry <3
Thanks guys Appreciate it.
Most of the stuff I've been using is pretty cheap. So far all of it came from a dollar store and walmart. The annoying part is having the patience to thread all those tiny little beads on over and over again one at a time. But hey it's worth the result.
After I'm done the next key necklace and I manage to find something to make a moonmark necklace I'm going to try to move away from the style I've been doing...spice it up a little, if you will.

I love the necklaces with the key and the wing. Very cute, and I love long necklaces.
The key one has a rosary look to it without having to be one and I love that.

Sorry guys I had no idea that there were comments here. Thank you <3
The other stuff I got off of ebay. You can find some gorgeous cheap pendants on there. Single or lots. Loves my ebay
Hmmmmmmmm I haven't posted anything on here in a long time. Well tomorrow I am going to make myself finish some stuff that's been lying around unfinished for a while now and post it up ASAP. Promise <3
I'm making a simple little skull-key necklace and a Gothic key necklace...I really need to move away from the keys
Actually that one was inspired by a rosary. I always love the way they hang. So pretty. The key one has a rosary look to it without having to be one and I love that
Believe it or not I got the angel wing at Walmart in the horribly disorganized craft section. They actually have a lot of cute shit....if you don't mind having to sit on their floor and dig around for 20 minutesWhere do you buy the pendents like the angel wing?

Re: Tara's Jewelry <3
Here's a crappy cell phone snap of my new necklace. It's just a little skull/key with black and hot pink beads. I'm making two of them...one for me and one for my friend. I'll post a better pic soon.
2 New Necklaces!! :D
The first one is a 26" skull key necklace. I made this one for my bestie and I'm making another for myself
The second one is a 38" gothic key necklace. I love this one. Although it's hard to see the details on the key itself in the pics. There's a cobra in the middle there. It's neat.
I am going to go hunt for something to make a moon mark necklace with...

Woven Bracelets/Suggestions?
^Mimi, that's where I got them I love them aren't they cute? I need to order more!
So I was cleaning my room and I found these woven bracelets that I totally forgot that I used to make. These are the simple kind, I'm going to try my hand at the more complex one's soon. But anyway, these are the one's I had left that I hadn't given away. (If you notice the pink one has a slight mistake in it because I'm pretty sure that's the first one I ever did)
Soooo hows about you guys come up with some suggestions for jewelry ideas and post em...it can be necklaces or earrings or bracelets...whatever! I've got some ideas rollin around in the ol brain but I'd love to hear what you guys would like to see that you can't find in any stores, ya know.
So if you have an idea let me know I'd love it.

Re: Tara's Jewelry <3
Those bracelets were actually really popular when I was in grade 6. Kid's would be making them in class all the time. They are known as friendship bracelets.
They are SO easy to make. It took me a couple tries but I got the hang of it really fast. I'll attempt to make a tutorial

Hand Woven (Candy Stripe/Friendship) Bracelet Tutorial <3 :)
Ok, so, this is my very first tutorial so I apologize if I failed to explain it properly. If you need more help just google or search on youtube "simple friendship bracelet" or "candy stripe bracelet" "simple woven bracelets", things like that. There are tons of videos out there.
Anyway, here goes, wish me luck
PREPARATION
First of all, you will need these things:
Scissors, tape (You can also use a safety pin and pin it to your pants), embroidery thread (Which is dirt cheap. You can get it in dollar stores, craft stores, Walmart...etc)
I usually make bracelets with either two colors or four colors. For two colors, say black and pink, you'd line your thread up like, "black, pink, black, pink" or in reverse.
In this case I used four colors that I thought blended well together. Light purple, then dark purple, then dark gray, then black. Cut each string the same length, I usually make them about 3 feet or a little more, so I don't end up running out of string. Make sure they are lined up in the order you want them, tie a knot at the top, leaving four inches or so out to tie the ends together. Then tape it (or safety pin to your pants) securely to a desk, table, whatever.
Like this:
THE WEAVE
Take hold of your first string in your left hand(In my pic, the light purple), take hold of your second string in your right hand (The dark purple). Take the first string and loop it over, then under the second string. Hold the second string tight and pull the first string up to the top and pull knot snug. Repeat this once more with the same strings.
Once you've done two knots with your first and second string, this is what you should see:
Now, you've already double knotted your second string with your first string. Now, it's time to push your second string aside, take your first string, still in your left hand, take your THIRD string in your right, and repeat what you did before. Remember to hold the third string (the one in your right hand) tight as you pull the knot up to the top. Remember you knot it TWICE. If you forget that, your bracelet won't turn out right.
When you've done the third string, move on to the fourth string. Double knot. Now you'll notice that your FIRST string is now LAST and your SECOND string is now FIRST. You should see this:
If your bracelet looks like this picture so far, your on the right track! Don't be discouraged if you make a mistake. Just scrap it, start a new one and try again! It's a very simple weave, but even I didn't get it perfect my first, second, or third try
Now that your second string is first, you take that string and knot it twice around what was the third string, continue down the line until your first string ends up in the front of the line again.
It should now look like this:
And partially done, it should look like this:
Continue the process over again until you think your bracelet may be long enough to finish. Just leave it secured and take your wrist, wrap it around and judge weather you like the length or not.
Like so:
If not, keep going a little more, if you do, tie a knot at the bottom, similar to the top, leaving about four inches out to tie the ends together.
When your all finished, your bracelet should look like this:
I should add, sometimes when you've made a bracelet, they tend to curl up in an annoying way that doesn't look very appealing. I fix this by running my hair straightener over it a few times. I'm sure you could use an iron if you didn't have a straightener, but I've never tried it because I am ironless, lol
ENJOY! If you keep practicing you'll be making them super fast in no time, without even thinking twice, without any mistakes.
They make cute little gifts for people and they cost almost nothing to make. All it takes is a few minutes of your time.
I hope I managed to explain this clearly to you, let me know how I did, K?
If you'd like one made let me know, I make them all the time and like I said they cost nothing so I'd have no problem taking a color request and mailing them out.
I'm going to attempt to learn a more complicated weave. When I do, I'll do another tutorial.
XOXO, Tara

Re: Tara's Jewelry <3
Hey, thanks for the tutorial! I remember making these friendship bracelets on grade 5-6 as well. They were popular among my friends. I had forgotten how to make them, but I still had a vague idea. I just tried to make one, with black and red (black-black-red-red) thread. It turned out OK, it's not as neat as yours :D And I left the beginning toooo short, so I can't tie it! I'll just try again :D
I think you could use these for something else than just bracelets. Like the fastening string for a hoodie, hair accessories, or even shoelaces? :D I guess the threads would have to be super long for that!

Re: Tara's Jewelry <3
No prob. I bet you'll get it way better the second time. It just sorta becomes a natural movement after a while.
I've used them for anklets as well but that actually ran through my head (shoelaces, etc.) and I never did it...I should so make an attempt then add it here.
If you make one and are happy with it you should post a pic <3

Thanks. I just got some new stuff from ebay so when I get a moment I'm going to try another one.
Re: Tara's Jewelry <3
Well I've been so busy the past few months that I haven't had a chance to even start any new stuff. Looking at everyone else's gives me the urge to get going again really bad
I have new pendants and things just sitting around, too! I'll have to start a new piece on Saturday after all the partying is over. For sure.
Gotta hit the stores on the 1st of September too! Find new treasures.

im in love with the the whole key thing because my friend told me a story and well i thought it was cute and i stick it with the whole lock and key theme. So have you ever thought about using locks? i see them at the stores all the time and i think some of them are cute and well i think you could do a great job making a key necklace then a matching lock necklace ((would make the story i was told oh so much more real))
