Cyberbaroque/Bubblegoth Eyeglasses Tutorial
Were you bummed like I was about not winning these from Kerli?
Well don't be!
In this tutorial, I will show you how to make your very own pair of cyberbaroque glasses.
First of all, you'll want to get started with some basic clear safety glasses:
You can get these at any hardware or home improvement store if you don't have any.
However, I recommend getting them from a thrift store (if you can find any) or bumming them off someone you know (got mine from my grandma) as they can be pricey and bubblegoth is all about making your own things dirt cheap.
Next you'll need to glue (I recommend E6000 glue but any good craft glue will work) some lace trim (I bought a roll of iridescent lace trim at Wal-Mart for around $2) to the brow of the glasses:
Make sure to apply it as even and straight across as possible and trim off any excess.
Next I glued some some white satin roses on top of the lace trim.
You can get these at Wal-Mart for around $2 a pack (six in a pack).
If there is too much fabric at the back of the rose, trim off any excess with scissors as it will help to adhere much better (and flatter) to the surface of the glasses.
Next I took a metal butterfly I found in some gardening accessories and spray-painted it white.
These can be hard to find depending on where you live. The best places I can suggest are thrift stores, garden supply stores or on jewelry.
Remember to let any painted items sit and dry for about 10 to 15 minutes (sometimes longer) to insure yourself a dry and even surface.
As an optional step, you can cover the dry butterfly with one or two coats of white nail polish as I did here. This will give the butterfly a more polished and pigmented texture.
As another optional step, you can paint/polish some X's or anything else you might want to add to the glasses as I did here:
These are actually X&O push pins I found at an office supply shop for $3 a pack but I heard Kerli mention she got X's at a home improvement store. If you get the pins you'll need to pull out or cut off the pins in the back- To do this, either use some wire cutters or pliers.
Next up is just covering whatever you like in crystals (glitter is also another nice option). Apply these with tweezers for accuracy.
You can get these crystals in all shapes and sizes at any craft store, I got mine at Wal-Mart for $3 a pack. I recommend Swarovski crystals because they are the most luminous and light-catching of the other brands.
LAST of all just glue everything you've made onto your glasses wherever you choose, give it a good 10 minutes for everything to dry and...
YOU'RE DONE!
My finished pair:
I hope you enjoyed making these as much as I did and if you have any questions, feel free to drop me a private message or leave a visitor message on my profile.
More tutorials soon but until then...

I'm glad you like them, Beffy!
Go for it~ I hope you'll share with me when you decide to make them.
Also- No worries, I'm always looking for ways to cut costs myself, haha.

Thank you very much! Y'know, that's a great point, you could. Go for it. ^w^
I keep a list of must makes myself, too but it's mostly mental since I always forget to write lists down.
Also, yeah, Etsy is a must for those of the crafting world, you'll like it.
