Movies
I know we already have a "What's You're Favorite Movie" thread but I wanted to create a topic where you could talk about any film you wanted. I myself am a movie-a-holic so I'm constantly falling in love with new films.
Things I want to know:
What's your current favorite movie?
What movies will your never get tired of?
What do you recommend people watch or go see?
What was the last movie you saw?
What movies are waiting for to come out in theaters?

I agree with Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan, and Alice <33 (Only because I haven't seen the other two! *adds to list of movies to watch*)
I still haven't seen Easy A! Everyone says it's amazing. I need to go download it, lmao.
I haven't seen Black Swan either, another one to look out for (:
NOOOO NEMO IS PERFECT. NO TOUCHIE.
Unless Ellen is Dory again. If so, do go ahead

Re: Movies
What's your current favorite movie?
Green Street Hooligans, it's about soccer/football 'hooligans' in England, it's a really good movie, there's a lot of cussing and violence but Charlie Hunnam and Elijah Wood more than make up that. Um I would recommend but I'm not kidding about the cussing and the violence, this movie has an R rating for a reason...
What movies will your never get tired of?
Lord of the Rings Trilogy, some of the greatest movies ever made. The special effects are amazing but not over computerized like many films today
What do you recommend people watch or go see?
Rocky Horror Picture Show, Repo! The Genetic Opera <-Both are musicals. Repo! is a rock opera, it has the most random cast with Paris Hilton to Sarah Brightman.
Howl's Moving Castle
PCU, <- I think everyone should watch this before going to college I don't know many people who have seen it so no one understands what it means to be 'that guy' at a concert (the person wearing the shirt of the band they're seeing)
Canadian Bacon <- it's a Micheal Moore comedy about America's obsession with war, and the president declaring was on Canada, I love this movie
Interview with a Vampire <-actually most vampire movies from before the current vampire fad I would recommend
What was the last movie you saw?
Pirates of the Caribbean 3
What movies are waiting for to come out in theaters?
Gnomeo and Juliet, I love gnomes, I have a small collection of them and the last Harry Potter movie

Re: Movies
My current favorite movie... Hard to say, I watch a lot of movies, and most of them are good.
I NEVER get tired of the Fifth Element! I've seen it like 50 times and I still want to see it xD
Ooh, recommendations... For childlike fun, Studio Ghibli's movies, like Totoro, Ponyo, Howl's Moving Castle and such. I also enjoy 3D-animated movies, like Finding Nemo, Ratatouille, Shrek, and umm... yeah. I'd also recommend Edward Scissorhands, Nightmare Before Christmas and Corpsebride.
Then I'd recommend Terminators 1 and 2, American Beauty, Equilibrium (other name is Cubic), Kick-Ass, Kill Bill 1 and 2, Zombieland, Pan's Labyrinth, There Will Be Blood, Mirrormask, Saving Private Ryan, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, Fightclub, Predator, Léon, The Boondock Saints, Inglourious Basterds, Der Untergang... I could go on and on :D Maybe I should say what NOT to watch? Don't watch Twilight movies or Transformers... Yuck.
The last movie I saw was No Country For Old Men. We watched it yesterday for the second time. I also recommend that ^_^
Before that we watched The Five Seasons and Antichrist... Now Antichrist I won't recommend to anyone here, it REALLY was f*** up and graphic... But if you think you can handle it, be my guest. It was a good movie.
I'm not waiting to see any movie in the theaters, really... We just read about movies, new and old, and then decide what to watch.
We read about movies from the Internet Movie Database: http://www.imdb.com/ <-- Check out movies there, before you watch, if you think you need to know about them more. Most of the movies also include a guide for parents; it explains if a movie has scenes that include sex/nudity, cursing, smoking, drinking and such... Like many of the movies I recommended are quite violent :3

Re: Movies
OMG you watched Antichrist? I was going to and then I was told about the scene with the rusty scissors and I changed my mind, I don't need to see that (that and at that time I would have had to import it) I watched the 'chaos reigns' scene with the fox and was slightly disturbed yet it kind of made me laugh at the ridiculousness of it
Re: Movies
My current favorite movie is...The Lost Boys. It will forever be my favorite.
Movies I will never tire of ;; The Lost Boys, Waxwork, Taken, The Warriors, The Labyrinth, The 5th Element, Quest for Camelot
I recommend ;; Everything I listed above XD
Last movie I saw ;; The Lost Boys: The Thirst. Better than the 2nd one but nothing close to the original.
I'm waiting for ;; Beastly and I Am Number Four.

Re: Movies
^ I just saw a commercial for I Am Number Four, it looks realy good. I also want see Beastly and the Red Riding Hood movie with Amanda Seyfried, but not enough to pay $10, so those I will have to wait until they hit HBO
Re: Movies
XD I rarely ever actually go to see them in the theater...WAY too expensive. I usually wait til DVD because I'm broke and not willing to spend and arm and a leg
But the Little Red Riding Hood looks really good too x__x

Re: Movies
Heh, yeah, I watched it :3 Lucky you, I didn't know anything about the movie. I just knew the director (Lars von Trier), I had seen the Idiots from him before, so I SORT of knew what to expect... But it was really graphic xD I was able to watch the scene with the scissors, because the actual cutting was so obviously fake; first you see the actress's... um, yeah, but then it quickly cuts to a fake one, which is then cut with the scissors :XQuincy wrote:OMG you watched Antichrist? But despite all the graphic and shocking stuff, it's artistic and a good movie. Makes you think. But no way I recommend it to anyone under 20 years, or anyone with problems with their mental health xD
We just download movies, watch them and then buy the goods ones on DVD.

Re: Movies
Maybe I' ll download it and watch it some time, I'm not really a fan of Willem Dafoe's acting but I haven't watched a thought provoking movie in a long time. It's good to know that in the scene with the scissors, it kind of freaks me out just thinking about it
But yeah from what I've heard no under the age of 20 should watch it... hell vaguely talking about that one scene to anyone under 18 even seems inappropriate

Re: Movies
I think Dafoe was pretty good in it. A cold, analytic psychiatrist, whilst the woman really acts like a crazy person :D
Another thought-provoking film I could recommend: the Fountain (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0414993/)
Beautiful visually and can be confusing if you're not concentrating. "Some films need to be seen more than once to be fully grasped. This is one of them."

That movie was awesome, I haven't seen it in a while.
I'm going to raid the cupboards to find it >
Re: Movies
You guys who consider it should totally see Black Swan. It's the last movie I've seen in a theater and it was amazing. The kind of movie you are absolutely absorbed by. (happens to me all the time with good movies ) It's a little scary though. I told this to my friend but she didn't give it much thought and ran out of the theater half an hour before the movie ended xD
oh, and I saw Flashdance last night. Classic + dance movie. My thing.

Sanctum 3D was worth to watch, I recommend it. It was also the last movie I saw. Great effects and it has a meaning in it as well.
These following are my ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE movies:
I never get tired of La Belle Verte- Green beautiful. It is so deep and TRUE that it was prohibited in most places all over Europe. Recommend it for sure. It's about a person who comes to Earth from an upper planet.
Also The Invention of Lying was hilarious. I never get tired of this one as well. It was a movie where NOBODY couldn't lie, all people were just pure honest...until one man came and started to lie. Like people nowadays do in this material world. Hard to find a honest person.

Re: Movies
This week we watched American Beauty, Black Death and House Of Sand And Fog.
Black Death: "set during the time of the first outbreak of bubonic plague in England, a young monk is tasked with learning the truth about reports of people being brought back to life in a small village." http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1181791/
It was a great movie in my opinion. A lot better than the 6.5 score it has now. Gory, and a sad ending. It makes you wonder, what really happened? If you believe in witchcraft, the ending isn't THAT sad, more unfair. If you don't believe in it and think realistically, it's very sad.
House Of Sand And Fog: "an abandoned wife is evicted from her house and starts a tragic conflict with her home's new owners." http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0315983/
Not worthy of the 7.8 score, really... It was too long and slow :/ It has a tragic ending, but it would've been easily avoided if the people didn't act like IDIOTS >_< We got bored of the film, so we fast-forwarded the last 30 min... It was OK, though... Just got bored :D I'm sure someone thinks it's a great movie.

I'm dying to see Black Swan, it looks so pretty.
Today we're going to watch Lost In Translation, no idea what it's about. It has Scarlett Johansson so it can't be totally horrible
One movie i have to recommend, Perfume, it's just aaargh. Another serial killer movie, but it's kinda really graphic and visual, and the murdered happens to be really hot And it has one of the most epic endings ever!
So totally recommended.

its a very intense film and you have to really watch it in order to get into it and understand it. probably you're a bit too young for it, maybe thats why she found it boring.

My favourite movie recently is Mr. Nobody. I think it's the best movie I've ever watched
I'll never get tired of Amélie, Ghost Ship, Sweeney Todd, Stephen King's Rose Red, Jeepers Creepers, all Harry Potter movies, Sherlock Holmes [that one with Robert Downey Jr.] and those are only a few.
I'd definitely redommend people to watch Amélie, because it taught me so much about the important things in life and real love, which sounds quite awkward, but it's true.
The last movie I saw is Mr. Nobody, a bit late, I know.

Re: Movies
Yesterday I saw one of the most awesome movies ever! Castaway on the Moon! A Korean movie, Kimssi pyoryugi: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1499666/
It's about a man who tries to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge, but is washed up on an island just outside the city. He can't swim, so he can't get out!
So he stays on the island and tries to survive. He collects food and makes an awesome shelter from a duck boat :D
Then there's a weird girl, who stays in her room (she sleeps in the closet on bubble wrap!) and photographs from her window... So she sees the man, and they become friends.
It really is a beautiful and funny movie, I highly recommend it. And very emotional, I almost cried a couple of times. There's no cursing (just one fu*k written on sand) and nothing sexual (well, the man pulls down his pants and shakes and shouts at the city because no one can hear him, but nothing is shown! You can also see his butt a little a couple of times), so it suits for everyone :)
It's about a man who tries to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge, but is washed up on an island just outside the city. He can't swim, so he can't get out!
