Okay--I'm
not even sure where to begin with this one--but I will preface it by
saying that this is the one and only time I'll discuss this topic.

I
suppose we'll start with the Illuminati. There is no Illuminati. It was
a group of 18th century Bavarian thinkers and philosophers. Think of
them as hippie pot-head college professors. Their intent was to incite
a new Enlightenment--hence the name. Enlightenment, Illuminati,
englighten illuminate, tomato, tomäto. It has only been within the past
thirty years or so that works of fiction have popularized this group as
a subject rife with mystery and nefarious intent.

This is
evidenced by the fact that the Illuminati is used and referenced
interchangeably with the Freemasons, who are an entirely separate
entity. The only consideration that goes into selecting which
organization to reference is that of which sounds more malicious at the
time of use. The Freemasons are an organization with a massive
membership. They are, in essence, a very old gentlemen's club (not the
sort where girls have dollar bills stuffed in their g-strings). They've
got some rituals and traditions--as they have been around for quite
some time--and have had some prominent figures as members, including
many of the United States' Founding Fathers.

It's for this
reason that people associate such organizations with malevolent
secrecy. What they fail to realize is that privacy and malevolence
doesn't necessarily go hand in hand. It's not tremendously difficult to
assert why the rich and powerful would choose to associate with others
who are rich and powerful. Having a venue to freely communicate with
those with like interests and lots in life is a trait shared among all
people. To conspiracy theorists, however, this translates to a shadowy
cabal of wizards secretly controlling the world. It's the same with any
nut-job take on what's REALLY going on behind the curtain--be it in
Freemason Lodges, Illuminati mind-control programs, or the notion that
the world is secretly governed by shape-shifting lizard people (this
theory actually has millions of supporters).

Let's just
presuppose that the Illuminati/Freemasons/Lizard People were indeed
harboring deep dark secrets intended to destroy all organized
government and religion to form a new world order in which they have
supreme power. This would take a conspiracy of fucking tremendous
proportions, involving the secrecy and mutual cooperations of millions.
Have you ever seen two people try to keep ANY secret from each other
successfully? Have you ever known of any conspiracy that has worked out
for any historical figures? Ever? It doesn't really get any more
powerful than the president of the United States of America, and the
whole conspiracy thing didn't pan out all that well for Nixon back when
he decided to give it a go. Now imagine all the world's leaders, all
with completely conflicting individual interests, all [secretly]
working to control the world.

The methodology, according to most
of these conspiracy theorist, is by the cunning use of symbols. Oo, aa,
scary symbols! As we all know, seeing triangles turns rational
free-thinking human beings into zombie slaves capable of little more
than tireless servitude to their invisible overlords. The only problem
with this fact is, of course, that it's not a fact. In fact, it's
fucking absurd. Symbols are things we use to represent other things.
That's it. Period. That's where the concept of symbolism comes from.

Art--the
genuine variety--is based on this very concept. One thing used to
metaphorically indicate another concept. The reason that this is done
is because sometimes [always, if you ask me] it's better than just
saying exactly what you fucking mean--smarter, more beautiful, more
clever, more discreet. This extends far beyond what I have the patience
to explain, but everything we interact with is symbolic, even on a
subconscious level, from the sound car horns make, to the color of the
walls in an office corridor. The only people intimidated by the concept
of symbolism are...drum roll please...

Fucking idiots! Morons
fear what they don't understand. With limited intellect, anything
potentially complex is, by default, threatening to their meager
comprehension of reality. When morons gather in large numbers, they
make concentrated efforts to eradicate pretty much everything that
confuses and threatens them. Where would one go to find a large group
of fucking idiots? Second drum roll please...

Church! Let's have
a brief review of Christianity: went around converting (read: killing)
all the Pagans (stealing their symbols in the process), same through
the Middle-East, through all of Europe during the Crusades, again
during the Spanish Inquisition, Africa, all "new" lands populated by
people who had never heard of Jesus (all of South, Central and South
America), etc. They killed Jews, heretics, "witches," atheists--anybody
who stood in opposition to their particular doctrine. In fact, for a

Dragging
our weary eyes back to the Illuminati and so on, the persistent fear
stems from the employment of symbolism--dirty symbolism rotting our
soft, supple minds. The most heinous symbols are those deemed satanic
by the church (the symbols that were, in fact, Pagan in origin).
Generally, they tremble at the notion that people may be off somewhere
doing something or talking about things that Jesus wouldn't smile upon.
In fact, Christians were the chief opponents of the Enlightenment. God
forbid we learn a little bit about how things actually work.

The
overarching theme is that there is a large and powerful group of morons
working in unison to stomp out the suspicion that an invisible hand is
sweeping across Moronville turning good God-fearing folk into
Satanists. Whether the culprit is the Illuminati, the Freemasons,
Barack Obama, the UN, Lizard-People, or the music industry (see how I
finally arrived at my point?), they are certain that they done seen
some shit. All the conspiracy theories seem to funnel back into the
same general set of horrors: symbols of non-Christian origin, the
abolition of religion, a new world order that stands in opposition to
the church. That's pretty much it. Everything that people in Western
society have come to fear about secrecy, "the occult" and mind-control
stems from Christians' fear that they may indeed be unsettled as
top-dog genocidal, brain-washing, money-stealing, power-hungry
fuck-heads.

Through this clusterfuck of misinformation and fear,
some people have become so deeply confused that they interpret any
symbol, coincidence, and meteoric success as evidence of (insert idiocy
here). It borders on paranoid schizophrenia. Whoever wrote this
question is clearly not the brightest candle on the menorah, and I'd
like to take it more lightly, but in large quantities, stupidity is the
single most dangerous force humanity can conjure. Since I know that
they didn't understand a word of what I just wrote, I'll summate: Kerli
is of sound mind and body. She is neither a member of a secret society,
