Here are some of my old songs. Haven't written any in a while but hopefully I might add some more later... if you like these ones lol ^^

Garnets

She carved his name into her wrist
“My eternal” she whispers into her skin
Vines twist and turn through her veins
The love letter she wrote forever stained
The pulsing numbers of measured dark
The jagged thorn just scrapes the heart
She’s not broken just scratched and bruised
And it hurts even more knowing it’s because of you

I know everyone will blame my pain upon the knife
They won’t realize it’s just one more sacrifice
If that’s all it takes to make the hurt fade
If that’s all it takes

She said “I belong to only you”
Never realized the extent of this truth
For now the blood in her body is not her own
It still is his, so she forces garnets to glow
And he smiles forgetting her mouth
Still she allows the blood to flow out
Still she allows the blood to flow out
Still she allows the love to

She knows everyone will blame the pain upon the blade
They won’t realize it’s all too little too late
This here is her debt finally paid
If that’s all it takes to make the hurt fade

Maybe the dark was the basis of our love
But I guess you yearned for the light
And now I’m reaching out to your shadow

Glitter Over Navy (stars in the sky)

To find comfort behind enemy lines

The battle of colours for glory
Paint could never win honourable dawning

I have noticed something about dreams
We know not what we see
Whether it is fiction or reality

Pakaru (Kuku) (not very eloquent because i was pretty upset when i wrote this, and my maori vocabulary is terrible XD)

LAST ONE!!! (i promise) sorry it's kinda cheesy D: and i honestly haven't gone through and edited it since i hurriedly typed it all up last year. and it sounded better in my head. i'm gonna stop making excuses for myself and do the good ol' copy and paste.

Now we know

Finding something to do with our time
And claiming it to be what we feel is right

At sixteen already got my own family

When little Jasmyn arrived you looked at her and smiled
Saw that she had my nose and she had your eyes
Yes she brightened up the entire room
Captivating everyone

But then we realized it was real hard work
To support our daughter and still go to school
And our mothers used it to teach us a lesson
Telling us to follow rules
And it angered us into a rebellion

But we still had our moments where we felt young once again
And we still had that spark between us, never-ending
It was like she was the confirmation of our assumed fate
Guessed marriage when we were just eight
But it came too soon

Cos now we know we were being a bunch of jerks
Finding something to do with our time
And claiming it to be what we feel is right
Oh now we know about the sad consequence

But last Monday I woke up with heartache
I knew something was wrong
Went into the kitchen and I saw my mama crying
And I already knew you were gone
You left the letter on the dresser
And it said you couldn’t handle the pressure
Fatherhood came too soon and it was too hard for you
To carry on
So now when I look Jasmyn I still see your eyes
And I feel like crying
But I’ve got to be strong for my baby
Cos I’m gonna have to be both mommy and daddy

So now we know we were being a bunch of jerks
Misunderstanding the true necessities in life
Not really knowing what is right
So now we know about the sad consequence
And I still have your handwriting to prove it
Alongside the gravestone and the actual ashes
At seventeen already a sober widow

goodness no! lol i sometimes feel like i'm still a baby myself. but i actually wrote it after my friend had a "pregnancy scare". i kinda made me think of how early people are "growing up" these days. and then this storyline got into my head. I'm not very good at story-writing though, so i turned it into a poem which then turned into a song xD.

I know.. i really dont understand why children want to have children nowadays.. like.. im 19 and even though im gonna be a brilliant mum (LOL), i make sure i DONT get pregnant cuz i can barely take care of myself lol (money wise of course lol again)

i also think that all the contraceptive thingies should be free of charge.. as in england.. but sadly.. people dont know how to use them Very Happy

lol well i personally believe that it all depends on maturity because that affects your mental state in certain situations, right? so i think levels of maturity come in stages. and i think the stage where you're mature enough for parenthood should come before the stage where you're mature enough for sex. it just makes sense to me that if you become pregnant after having sex, you should be ready to take responsibility for your actions. because you should consider the consequences before committing yourself to an action. that's why abortions kind of disturb me. they just seem like an easy way out for people my age without any lesson being learnt. and in my opinion that certainly shows that they're not mature enough in the first place!

well personally glitter over navy is my favourite because it means so much to me. when i was little, i asked my parents what the stars were made of and why they were in the sky and why they only showed at night. they just said "that's not important" but my brother took me outside and said to me that he likes to call the stars "glitter over navy" because the sky is like navy velvet that God has laid out so carefully to blanket the Earth and the stars are glitter that God sprinkled across the sky to show beauty to those who never get to see beauty, so that they have something to look forward to, something to trust in. ever since, the stars have always been important to me. whenever i'm upset or scared i look out at the glitter over navy and remember that i'll always have the reassurance of their appearance at the end of everyday.

I'd recommend to anyone and everyone to just give creative writing a go. Whether it be a song, poem, short story, or novel, it's still gonna come out as a part of you.

I look back at a lot of my writing and think "what the hell was i thinking?" or "what was i smoking that day???" because it just sounds too predictable and cheesy and just plain terrible.

But then, when you create something you're proud of, it's like discovering a new part of you and feels amazing.

The important thing to remember is that there is no right or wrong. Just write whatever comes to mind, no matter how stupid or pointless it feels. Practise makes perfect. Smile

true, I'm good at narratives, not poems or such. Heck I will give it a go. >-< even if it sounds like some weird gibberish nonsense.

Your writing makes me want to cry...I'm actually sitting here with a lump in my throat because your lyrics are so beautiful. I adore Now We Know, it isn't cheesy at all, it's real.

Thankyou for making me want to progress with my songwriting. I want to get better at it, but progress is slow at the moment...

i was looking through old files on my laptop and i just found this old song called "pull back". it's from when i was like 12 and is one of the very few songs i ever put with music. i WOULD play it on piano/sing it and post it, but i don't have the technology or performance talent to do that lol so i'll just show you the lyrics Iridescent_Revival_<3 (songs) Icon_smile

Okay so here's a song I just wrote in the shower like half an hour ago.... (see, normal people get clean in the shower, but me... I MULTI-TASK!!!!)

If they made a Barbie doll
Out of a real, real girl
Would ya still buy her dresses?

Would ya still think she's beautiful?

If they found out a clever way
For common dirt to heal the lame
Would ya charge them for extra,
Based on age and texture,
Especially for those in poverty and pain?

Don't you give me those excuses

Just so you can "fix" their doubts
Make it seem like you know all the answers

MY FRIEND'S SONG called "Worth":

the good girl stays quiet
to not lose the friends beside her
but is it really worth it after all?
they say she's gorgeous, and special
with the voice of an angel
but they only need her help for when they fall

this is the only way to make them see
that she used to feel adored
but they never listen long enough
and she's always ignored

is it worth bottling feelings up inside
only to let them flow as tears?
is it worth the pain inside
that makes her feel like they dont care?

every night and every day
the skies around her turn grey
as she watches them slowly turn away
isn't she worth more than the sadness they bring her?

they say she's beautiful, worthwhile
with a perfect body and smile
but they don't see the heart that lies within
they say they love her to pieves
she's amazing and always will be
but her reasoning and love for them is wearing thin

this is the only way to make them see

she wrote this when she was 13 and i love it because it reminds me so much of our chats in year 9

Beautiful songs, I love them both! The one your friend wrote reminds me of what I was going through at around that age. I found it calming to read ^^ And you just banged yours out while you were in the shower? Jealous! Razz

It’s all under control
It’s just that I can’t find the remote (hollie.... i can hear you laughing...)
I don’t want to wait for the sun to rise
To say that it’s alright for me to come outside
I don’t want to wait for the shadows to draw near
I have no last words for anyone to hear
I don’t want to wait for a stupid ring
To teach me the beauty that love can bring
You have taken advantage of my polite patience
For far too many trying times
If that clock keeps reminding me of deadlines
Then the box will soon be full
