Well... I've seen the confused side more a lot from Kerli for a long time now. I just wish that she would make her desicion. I said somewhere before that I think that she already buried Bubblegoth. There is nothing ''goth'' in her music at all. It's pure pop/dance music.

I was just thinking, would it be a stupid idea to confront Kerli about this?

Kerli is trying to survive in a dog eat dog business. We all know all the 1 hit wonders, and I don't want Kerli to be one. Added to that is her IDJ connection who is more interested in Rap/Hip Hop artists.

I'm 60 years old (going on 61 in Jan) I enjoy Kelri and her music. I've heard cuts from the Utopia CD and I'm good with it.

Performers evolve. It happens. She's competing for airplay and fan attention against a MYRIAD of female artists today. Gaga, Katy Perry, Rianna, just to name a few. And at her age (she's not old by any stretch of the imagination), it won't be long before another cute, young, singer will emerge. She has to strike while the iron is hot. If she's going to be ANYTHING, she better do it NOW. And using any format to do it. If that's dance/trance/techno, then so be it. Personally I like the style. I'm a Daft Punk fan too. Along with DJ Tiesto and several others of the genre'.

Sorry to rant, but I tire of everyone expecting Kerli to conform to OUR expectations. She is an artist in a huge career field that eats it's young. I know many GREAT singers and performer who will NEVER reach even the current status of Kerli NOW, much less any more.

It's hardly just our expectations though, if Kerli says the album is going to be one thing and it turns out to be something completely different, of course people are going to be upset.

I think we all understand her situation, some people just aren't happy with the way she's been keeping us in the dark about everything. If that's the direction she wants to go, that's absolutely fine (I actually like the album), but don't say "Oh there's still some stuff on the album for Love Is Dead fans!" when there isn't.

love me or leave me is something that would have fit into love is dead for sure.. so there is.

One song does not invalidate my point though. Personally, I don't think it would have fit on LID, but still, one song in twelve isn't great.

I don't think we should care much about her album being less Bubble and more Goth, the only thing I personally think we should care about is her album being released. I feel like her album does this whole "not-releasing-Kerlis-album"-thing on purpose. It's really annoying -.-

Bubbblegoth (to me) was kinda' lame anyway. I never liked it from day one, but even if the album had been what she described as "bubblegoth", I have a feeling that some of you would STILL think it isn't bubblegoth!

She has NEVER released anything "bubblegoth" as far as I recall. We have nothing to base our assumptions on, so what we hear on this leaked Utopia may as well be "bubblegoth" if you want it to be.

I actually think that some of the songs are bubblegoth, maybe not the tunes themselves, but the lyrics are kind of bubblegoth. At least the way I interpret it.

Let's just hope that her album will be released during next year...

I think that her label did so big mistake... the best time for released her second album was:
2010- when the soundtrack "Almost Alice" was released. It made her popular, the portals in the world wrote about her and Tokio Hotel
Summer 2011- she performed so many times......

Right now I think that the best her duet with someone popular, e.g. Rihanna..the same label... it can help her more...

I agree with Natt. Singing a Duet with a more established artist would help her. Someone not like her, a contrast. Or a group. Metallica maybe.

I remember when one year ago Kerli's wrote that she received a few proposals from labels- I think that she "played" with Island Def Jam this tweet.
And earlier more supported her Lady Gaga's label, tweeted about her

Actually spamming her label would be a great idea... And I agree with you that the best time to release her album would have been when Almost Alice was released and/or when she performing at many festivals etc last year.

The only problem with spamming IDJ is they have no contact email or number. When you go thier website, there is NO contact inromation. Or none I could find.

Isn't she locked into a six album contract? With the way IDJ keeps pushing the release dates back with only her second album, she wont be able to leave until 2050.

She can't just push out 5 more crappy CDs to satisfy the conditions of the contract. That will reflect on her, not IDJ. I think the slowness that IDJ is moving her along with actionable frankly. She needs to contact a good lawyer, and negotiate a release, then find a label that REALLY wants to promote her.

Her contract is for 6 albums and the only way she can leave Island is if she gets dropped.

She needs to do some freelance music on the side for us, and do album music for the label.

I actually don't have any issues with the CD. It's the slowness that IDJ is moving.

Ok I may have to eat some of my words about IDJ. The promotional info they have on Chalkboardmusic is nice. Vids of Lucky, GITD, and others, PLUS some great pics of Kerli.

^ That has to do with the publishing deal she got recently with Chapell-Warner (Warner-Chappell?) music, I think. I don't think Island Def Jam has changed anything on her site since about 2008. (although maybe I'm wrong, I stopped following it because she herself didn't use it, and neither did they) WHICH IS RIDICULOUS. RIDICULOUS, IDJ. I'm really glad that Kerli has gone off to this dance-rave sound. LiD album is great, but the album is pretty tiring to listen to. I've only loved the album for a month I think, and then I discovered her unreleased songs that leaked and there goes the LiD album being buried to me. Right now, if I have to listen to LiD, I must be in the mood for it.

If Kerli will stay on the LiD theme, I really don't think she will ever get more popular as the popularity she has right now. Bubblegoth is a nice concept but let's be realistic, the general public is not here for dark sounds anymore, and we can't blame Kerli to keep the bubblegoth theme buried because she needs to blow up too in the music world.

I understand what you are saying, but if I was an artist, I would want to have music that is special, art and few fans, than bad music and many fans.

She could very well just be making this kind of music for now to gain some more attention. Whether she sticks to it or not she said her next album could end up sounding completely different to this one. But I guess it may also depend on how successful this album is.

I'm surprised Dollface and When you cry isn't on the album as they are fan favourites. Also I know Army of Love was just a song for fans but I thought that would of fit onto the album as in the lucky ones vid she has posters that says "Join the army of love". But we don't know if the tracklisting for Utopia is final so who knows

If I'm honest, I kind of hope that's true. It would at least explain why Kerli doesn't seem particularly bothered by the leaks.

Sometimes I think there can't be a label who is more worse than Kerli's when it comes to support her.

So, I finally gave in and decided to give it a listen. I really like it over all. I don't really feel like I connected to many of the songs lyrically except for Lucky Ones, Love Me or Leave Me, Supergirl, and Last Breath. Those are probably my top four Everything else was still really catchy though. I don't know why everyone keeps talking about there being a lot of dubstep though; I really only heard it in Last Breath. Lots of great dance tracks!
