Yeah she can write some meaningful lyrics.

But her singles. I just can't get past that.

Hot N' Cold is catchy! And I LOVE Thinking of You. Though it wasn't big. She has a song called "Not like the Movies" that I'm in love with right now. I think it'll be her next single.

I don't like watching her perform though, she can't live up to her recordings.

Agree =/ I can't stand her singles, but her music isn't all bad.

Her music is pretty good, but as you guys said, I'm not too fond of her singles.

I think she sould pick better singles.

She's goreous, sweet and sexy. Her music is fun and catchy. I love California Girls and Hot N Cold.

she's not my fave artist at all,but i think she has potential and she seems to be a bit more down to earth than for expl. Lady GaGa or someone..

Her music is Ok. She can't sing live at all. I used to love her music before, but then I stopped liking it for some reason, back then I really liked Hot n Cold.

Katy Perry is such an interesting topic to me. I like some of her songs, Teenage Dream and Firework, but I like them sooo much more when other people sing them, I think they do a much better job. I'm not sure if she's really a terrible singer (her singing Firework at the EMAs was one of the worse live performances I've ever seen), I think mostly she's trying desperately to compete with the pop stars of today that she's singing songs that don't really work with her voice.
Katy Perry is the perfect example of the difference between respecting an artist and liking their music. I like her music but I don't really respect her. Personally I find Katy Perry extremely fake, or maybe it's just she's trying so hard to come off as quirky that is just comes off as fake...

"Not at the Movies" is her one redeeming song for me. It's the only one I believe she actually wrote majority of it and she's not trying to hit a bunch of notes that clearly aren't in her range.

Well, I went on YT to take a listien to her songs. The only one i can really say i like is TGIGF I agree the music she does is not right for her voice.

I like more then Lady gaga.

I think she's really pretty and I love some of the shit she wears but..can she really not sing or does she just try to sing things not in her vocal range all the time? I like some of her songs, like Hot & Cold, wait, that might be it. Oh & the Breathe Electric remix of E.T. (I don't like the original version at all).

Her new songs are not to my liking, but this song will always be among my favorites

I used to completely DESPISE Katy&&her music. It used to annoy me, I used to think she was fakest bitch out there.

Then I saw a documentary about her.
She had been trying to get her music out there for years, but it never caught on. She was brought up in an EXTREMELY religious and sheltered home.
She persued her muical career for years, with 3 record deals falling through. She is one of the most perserverant, down-to-earth singers I know. (besides Kerli, of course )
I may not like most of her music, but I have A LOT of respect for her. She went through A LOT to get his big.

I've seen enough bad performances that one or two good ones won't make up for it. I've never heard her perform Firework live and not sound like a dying cat. It's not that she can't sing, it's that she's can't sing her own songs, her voice isn't bad but most of her current songs seem to be out of her range (and I've never liked Katy Perry, I have friends that can vouch that I've thought she's sucked since 2008)

i love katy perry! her music makes me happy and in a world where bad things are constantly rubbed under your nose, i aim to thoroughly enjoy music that is upbeat and talks about dreaming and friday nights

Also, real-time pitch correction is apparently not uncommon these days, so it's kind of hard to say anything about someone's ability when they're using a mic. :/

I just can't with Katy Perry anymore. Every thing she's done lately has been bad and her new video is horrible and sends a terrible message

i found her video for Part of Me, well......
i mean, the entire video is one big commercial fro joining the army. i know that she means that she is independent and she is joining the army to be strong, but it wasn't even creatively done. it sends a bad message to kids, because it glorifies the army, kind of like violent video games.

I was more offended by the whole 'to get over a boyfriend join the army' message and that the 'to be a strong female you have to lose all femininity' message. It's suppose to be a female empowerment message but she has to be butch to be seen as strong is what I'm getting from it
