Ode to a Dragonfly

It’s almost painful to remember
Chilly days in winter’s cold
I was still so young then
Still so vulnerable
Without knowledge of this truth
Blooming in the spring
I was a golden ray
Of shining happiness
Still so innocent

I have memories
Of you watching over me
Hovering...
Shimmering...
While I skipped over stepping stones
I could not have known
How unified we were
We were both new
To our home, our Earth


I just glanced and passed by


Where have those days gone?
Tears shed over scraped knees
No thought of past or future
Only here, now

Carefree and careless
Joyful, dreaming
Make-believing
All tears cried, that is past
