New Music: Estonian singer Kerli premieres inspirational 'The Lucky Ones' single



Estonian pop singer Kerli premiered her latest single, “The Lucky Ones,” on Friday. The inspirational dance jam will serve as the first single from her new album.

“Moon Babies, @PerezHilton premiered #TheLuckyOnes today<3 Go check it out and leave some love!” Kerli wrote on Twitter, announcing the track's premiere.

“The Lucky Ones” is dazzling electro-pop jam. Kerli co-wrote the song with Svante Halldin and Jakob Hazell. Over the towering synthesizers, Kerli sings, “When your world is crumbling down, I can make it better.” Its colossal chorus features Kerli's best vocal performance to date as she powerfully belts, “We are the lucky ones!” The track was inspired by her friend miraculously overcoming his cancer.

“The message of the song is for us to never ever forget that we are the lucky ones. That fact that we get to sit here right now […] and be healthy. It's definitely the most meaning song I've ever written,” Kerli said in a live chat back in September.

Kerli is also known for writing another inspirational tune, Demi Lovato's "Skyscraper." The track failed to make it on Kerli's second album, so Lovato picked it up for her Unbroken album and it became a Billboard top 10 hit for The X Factor judge.

Kerli's “The Lucky Ones” follows her Billboard dance chart hits, "Army of Love" and "Zero Gravity." The new single will hit iTunes on October 29.

Writing a song that fits the modern structure of club music while expressing a positive message is a challenge, and with “The Lucky Ones,” Kerli succeeds by encouraging everyone to embrace challenges and harness energy to improve our lives. Melding the production styles of Swedish House Mafia and Avicii, the track sounds as great on the radio as it will in the clubs. Forthcoming club remixes by Morgan Page, Rich Morel, tyDi (who worked with Kerli on his just released new single “Glow in the Dark”), and Hector Fonseco will expand the reach, while the original extended version will work right out of the box. Listening to the lyrics makes me wonder what the inspiration behind the song is- regardless, the message is universal – containing something that we can all reach out for. With two new Kerli songs in the span of a week, I would say that we are all pretty lucky.
