Respiroque Mask
Alright, so, I've had the general idea for this mask for a couple of months now.
BUT, I hadn't really gotten off my a$$ to do anything about making it happen. Well, that all changed.
The bigger portion of the mask was going to be a shoulder armor/piece for the gaga show I went to, BUT I messed up. Anywho. Let's start the damn tutorial aye?
First, select your mask pieces. I got mine from hobby lobby for like $5. Mucho cheapo imo.
Then I did what came natural; spray painted. Then, as the paint was still wet, I sprinkled vigorously
with super-fine black glitter, which I also got from hobby lobby 1/2 off for like 2 bucks maybe?
THEN, I laboriously glued on one sequin at a time. The sequins, I got from walmart for cheap. The mask glue I used came from Hobby Lobby. Again. Super cheap. I also used my hot glue gun to adhere the same feathers from my Wonderland Ring tutorial to the mask. I then hot glued a strip of purple ribbon to each side of the mask, to make it wearable. & Then joined the faces together w Hot glue. I also treated the smaller mask with feathers.
I then bought some of the white trim that BornViolet used in his Cyber-Baroque Glasses tutorial<3
which can be found super cheap at walmart, and I glued it across the smaller mask's eyes using E-6000.
After that dried, I bought some heavy black ribbon from walmart, and I cut maybe about 8 in. pieces and started curling them using my fingers, and then attached them to the mask(s), also using E-6000.
I repeated this step until I had 2 ribbon pieces on each side. I also cut small pieces of the ribbon and glued over the inside of the mask's eye-holes. Anywho, here's the finished product. I'm quite pleased.
^-^
Hope you guys enjoyed! & dear Luna, if you're reading this, I haven't forgotten about your hat request!
I've never made one before, so I'll get right on that next! In the meantime, let me know if you want a tutorial on this headdress.
I.L.U. Moonchildren! xoxo!

Re: Respiroque Mask
Love the mask, it's incredible! There's so much going on with it, and yet it doesn't look too over-the-top. The idea to add the smaller mask to it was really creative. Very well made
Yeah, I'd really like a tutorial for the headdress, it's beautiful. It looks like it would be simple to make too, and I'm always looking for things like that, since I'm not an arty-crafty person by nature. Sewing machines hate me, etc. xD

Ah doll, thank you so much! The wellmade comment really made me happy. So thanks. ^-^ and yes! Simple things are so fantastic! And it is so simple. So yes! Okay, cool. I'll upload it in a couple weeks. ^-^
Re: Respiroque Mask
Thanks robotbox! ^-^ my mom keeps trying to turn it upside down and I'm like NO! lol
Re: Respiroque Mask
I love the black sparkleness!
Also the feathers are really cool looking! They remind me of this one butterfly!
Amazing job!

Re: Respiroque Mask
Wow, that really is a beautiful mask :]
I love masks in general (especially the ones that cover just your eyes- aren't they mysterious?) I love the idea of painting it black, and then putting black glitter on it. It's... I don't know the word for it, but overall it has a beautiful effect. It reminds me of the night sky. The glitter being the stars
Everybody is so talented on here. I can't sew And I can't afford classes. Videos on YouTube don't show how to sew clothes (it's all eHow- and trust me, I've watched every video and still haven't figured it out). My arts supply store is about an hour away, so my mom never takes me either :[
I wish I could be more of a "Moon Child". My mom would never allow me to wear the bubble goth look D:

Re: Respiroque Mask
Ah. Well, you know, it's all going to come easier as you get a little older. Prove yourself responsible with the little things, and your mom will probably recognize that you're a good kid and give you a little more slack. Sewing is WAY difficult. I've yet to make a shirt or anything. Just gloves. And that's hard enough. So don't feel bad. You're not alone in being not almighty w the needle and thread lol. As for the art store? Meh. You'll get a ride soon enough and be able to go get your own stuff. And gah, there are some really talented people on here. And thanks so much for the kind words. ^-^
Re: Respiroque Mask
Okay...I really don't know if I'm able to transform my thoughts into words xD But I'll try ^^
It's just sooooo creative!! I love the idea to paint the mask black and put glitter on it. Black+Glitter is always great I think ^^
Well done =)
Oh, and I'm also interested in the headdress =)

Re: Respiroque Mask
that is soo creepy but soo good! definitely impressive. and the headpiece is awesome too, u should open ur own shop online
Re: Respiroque Mask
I've already told you how much I adore this but you can never have too many compliments~
The inverted mask was just genius- I mean, who has done that? No one I can think of.
Yes, though, as I stated to you before, this definitely brings to mind the beautiful abstract & surrealist works of great artists such as Salvador Dali indeed.

Re: Respiroque Mask
I looked at this yesterday, but I couldn't think of anything smart to say, just "SQUEEEE!" :D
This is so creative it's crazy! It really looks like a mysterious version of I-Loo's gas mask, with the smaller face and the ruffles on the sides. Mysterious, because of the black and fine glitter. Looks like the night sky, like appleattack said. Very pretty! This would be awesome to wear at a ball, with a fancy shirt :D
I wonder if I can find masks like this here... Even small ones, I could use those in necklaces or something :D Hum, this city's too small!

@BornViolet: Could kindness kill the kind, I'd be dead. Thank you.
@Forace: Your initial comment is most flattering. ^-^ lol. Thanks!
& Wowza, I've been wanting to make some sort of creepy necklacey
thing with those faces too! :O & if you can't find masks like these there,
just hit up hobby lobby's website.
@Javiel: Thanks hun! Glad you like!
@Eetu: Oh lawd, I can just see it now. You sitting there, all little and innocent, and there'd be a halo of empty seats around you due to this mask. Other passengers shooting you nervous glances when they believed you weren't looking. lol. Thanks though! I certainly want to give more tutorials!
@Brownies: Your sn makes me hungry, first of all. Secondly, thanks so much!
Really guys, thank you so much for being so receptive to the poor craft pieces I torture into masks and stuff lol.

Yay!! It looks so cool. I love how you did the face upside down, and the small one on the bottom. ^.^
