How are you?

How many times a day do we get asked "how are you?"
And how many times do people actually mean it?
Sometimes I feel like a social retard because unless I expect someone to answer me honestly, I don't ask them how they're doing.
I can't really handle all this small talk with people who don't really care. And I don't wanna be like them, so I come off really arrogant I guess.
But we should ask each other more often. And really mean it. That's not too hard to do, is it...

the first time i came to england i was so annoyed. everybody was 'how are you' all the freaking time and i could see from people's faces they didn't really want to know how i was. but i did get used to it and now ive noticed im always asking how are you first but then again, i do want to know!

unbelievable. I had psychology today, and profesor was talking about this. She said that we should try to say exactly what we're feeling, not just say 'ok' or 'fine'

ya ppl don't tell the truth when asked. or ppl only ask to be nice..so why ask

It bothers me too. That's why whenever someone asks how I am, I answer completely honestly. People don't expect It, and the only people who actually care are the ones who will carry on the conversation

That's very true...Very true...I really think people should't ask if they don't care for a real answer..People rather just be polte.
