On-topic: I guess they are overrated...but I thought there were amazing back with Tarja. Old Nightwish is still my fav band.

I agree. I respect Anette, but I really hate the way she sings old songs!! Tarja is the singer for Nightwish <3

I love both singers, tbh. Although I wish they wouldn't make Anette sing the old songs. They really, really don't fit her voice =/

I really love Old Nightwish (with Tarja)! I know Toumas still writes the songs and lyrics so I still like them musically but vocally I do not care for Annette. I think had I never known Tarja first I would like Annette more, or if she was the singer of a different band, but Tarja's got impossible shoes to fill. I CRINGE when they have Annette sing the old songs. It kills me inside. She does good on the new songs since they are a little different in style, but they just shouldn't mess with the old ones. I am going to buy their new album, if it ever comes out, because I still love Toumas, Marco, and the band but it's just not the same.

Tarja's solo stuff is not the same, either. I loved Nightwish for their lyrics and she's not as good of a writer as Toumas in my opinion. I still like her solo music but as with New Nightwish, it's just not the same.

Nightwish is my favorite band by far. I collect their cds and singles. Smile

I love them both with Tarja and Anette (I like the Old Era Nightwish better, but with Anette, they're still awesome). I think Anette gets so much crap for replacing Tarja. It's unfortunate. People can have their opinion, and that's fine, but a lot of people totally trash her and it's very unnecessary.

Anyway, my favorite album is Oceanborn, but I listen to all of their albums frequently. (I'm such a dork because I have three versions of Oceanborn, but they're all different! (extra tracks, different artwork, etc.)) Razz

I really can't wait for them to come here again. I'm excited for Imaginarium Smile

I'm excited for new album, but I'm still a bit worried for Anette and Tuomas. I hope he's found a way to better incorporate Anette's voice with the rest of their sound. Because Anette actually has a really great voice when given the chance (like the October & April duet she did the Rasmus).

According to the newest Nuclear Blast catalogue, Imaginarium is going to be released January 13.
- this might be truth, but also might be not. Tuomas mentioned, that the album will be released in the middle of January, definitely before the first show in LA, which will be on January 21.

but once I and some mates saw the final image, we immediately knew that
the hunt for the actual cover artwork was over. I believe this is Toxic
Angel's finest piece of work yet, capturing the deepest essence of what
Imaginaerum is all about. The power of imagination and places of
wordless wonders, magic and awe, of longing and the surreal.

I emphasized from the start that not a single living thing should be
seen in the picture, and Toxic was able to create that sublime but

So will everyone outside of Europe get it the 5th of December?

Edit: Nevermind, it comes out January for everyone else. But at least we'll be able to hear all the songs on the album before preordering.

It kind of reminds me of a mix between "Dark Chest of Wonders" and "Amaranth". Hopefully the rest of the album will sound as good.

I can't decide if I should buy the new album or not. I love the songs "Storytime", "I Want My Tears Back", and "The Crow, The Owl, and the Dove" but the other songs for me are just okay.

I really love the new album. I wish there were more than 13 songs though. There was such a long wait, I wish they'd release 2 cds worth of songs, I know they've got a lot more than that written. I can never get enough of NW. <3

Press statement

Another chapter of the Nightwish story has ended today. Nightwish and Anette Olzon have decided to part company, in mutual understanding, for the good of all parties involved.

In recent times it has become increasingly obvious that the direction and the needs of the band were in conflict, and this has led to a division from which we cannot recover.

Nightwish has no intention of cancelling any upcoming shows, and as a result we have decided to bring in a substitute vocalist starting in Seattle 1.10.2012. Her name is Floor Jansen from The Netherlands (ex-After Forever, ReVamp), and she has graciously stepped in to help us complete the Imaginaerum world tour.

We are all strongly committed to this journey, this vehicle of spirit, and we are sure that this will lead to a brighter future for everyone.

We forever remain excited about the adventures to come, and we are extremely proud of the two beautiful albums and the wonderful shows we shared together.
