faunia [2012 poem]

the moonlight awakens me in a meadow,
i feel thorns and flowers caught in my hair as i brush off a butterfly from my shoulder.
i gaze around until i catch something in the corner of my eye,
a beautiful creature known as a human dressed in black,
his head turns in my direction as i gaze into his sullen eyes,
gloom lingers in the air as i reach into my sachet.
our eye sight never breaks as
a sharp blade stings and cools my skin,
i grab it without a thought and slid my hand to the handle.
a grab it and hide it behind my back as i emerge out of the moonlight and
into the darkness,
him still gazing into my eyes i walked to him,
stopping at his feet. then, with our lips almost touching i take the hand away from my back and strike him.
he backs up and falls to the ground.
a grim smile crosses my cheeks as i let go,
my hand is covered in a blanket of blood.
i walk to the river and wash my hands in it,
dying the water almost completely red.

i'm not really sure, i think at first it was fauns, i pictured a faun dressed in white and how things deceive you, much like a siren she lured the man in then killed him, so i think sirens inspired it
