It's not from my country but just discovered this band from Finland (which is really close to Estonia, haa). They don't have much out yet, just the first single, but in my opinion - there's nothing like that out yet, the whole sound is brand new. I hope they are gonna be big!

Jenni Vartiainen


I'm not a big fan of hers, but she is pretty huge right now in Finland, and I really adore this particular song (it always makes me cry) although it's a bit religious which I'm not. The lyrics were written by Mariska, she's not bad either.


Then some rock, Neljä Ruusua


A classic, every Finn knows this one.


How about folk metal? My favourite, Turisas

And then something really underground, this pretty new gothic rock band called Masquerade

I tried to introduce very different genres. Enjoy! I've already found this thread really interesting, it's fun to discover less known bands from all over the world.

I love "Mä en haluu kuolla tänä yönä (I don't wanna die tonight)" and "Junat ja naiset (Trains and Women)" by Jenni Vartiainen. I've actually been thinking about getting her newest album, but importing it is expensive (no surprise).

Not meaning to pick nits, but Celine Dion is from Switzerland. She won Eurovision from there in 93 (?)

Obviously Lorde - apparently she didn't do too well internationally after Royals? But her songs still do really well here and I still really like her voice.


Maisey Rika - her Te Reo Māori songs are her most beautiful but this is from the first album I bought of her.
