Moonmark Skulls <3
So this is a random idea I got while looking at all of the awesome Halloween stuff that's out right now.
I wanted a cute new ornament for my room (Which is in the process of being redecorated...should be done right after Xmas) so I came up with this idea and I'll do a little tutorial, but you won't need it. It's super simple and super cute.
I should also ass that most of this stuff came from a local dollar store and cost just one or two dollars a piece
First of all, this is all the stuff I needed to make my ornament:
-Styrofoam skulls (You can use whatever material you want but this is all I could find)
-Paint colors of your choice (I used Acrylic paint but spray paint would be much faster. I also couldn't find the colors I wanted so I took red and white to make a pretty pink)
- Paint brushes if your using the acrylic paint
- Rhinestones (I found these sticky ones but they don't stick for long because they are cheap so I used the glue gun to put them on)
- Glue gun and glue sticks
- Paper towels and warm water to clean your brushes...or whatever else you want to use
- Last I used a sheet of clear plastic to protect my carpet from the paint
So obviously I started out by mixing my paint to the color I wanted then I painted it. If you miss some spots (like I did) or one coat doesn't do it, just let it dry and add another.
When the paint is dry (Mine took all night and I still needed some touch ups) you can put on your rhinestones. Just take the glue gun and put them wherever you want! (& please avoid burning yourself! I burnt my finger...I found it weird because usually the glue gun glue doesn't actually leave a burn mark but this time it did)
It's tricky putting tiny stones onto something with a glue gun so you may want the aid of a pencil or something like that to avoid getting covered in glue. I just roughed it and used my fingers.
Once you have your rhinestones on you may have some excess glue around them. Gently remove them with tweezers. Some paint may come off but don't worry. Just take a tiny paint brush and fill in the spots and let them dry. As you can see I even added some big pink rhinestones to the eye sockets.
All done! Place it wherever you like. This is my to-be vanity. It's not finished yet and I may move the skull to another place. I'm going to do the other skull black. I'll add pics when I am finished the other one. Enjoy

ahhh that is so cool! Ive got a skull as well - it's a candle holder (like it has this opening in the back and u can put a tea light in it, so it will shine from its eyes etc) atm its just plain white with some blue glittery dots (that i added) but i might bubblegoth it up a bit.

Looks great!
Your skulls gave me an idea for a killer pair of hair-accs. Thanks!

Thank you everyone <3 Personally I'm not fussy on the quality of these skulls. They were cheap and they kinda look cheap as you can tell.
I'm going to see if I can find some better made pieces to work with and I'll post some more

I finally found some black acrylic paint. Here's the other skull. Glue gun glue is a little bit too messy for this type of thing. Maybe next time I'll try something else...even like school glue.
