Lily
Rough draft of a poem.. because my mind won't let me sleep.
Lily was a growing girl,
In a strange and violent world.
Lily was a child quite placid,
surviving on her stomach acid.
Not knowing how to cope,
Lily turned to coke and dope.
Coricidan Cough and Cold,
Let us watch the story unfold.
She popped 11, 12, 13,
Now watch as Lily turns quite green.
Back seat passenger to a wedding,
couldn't care less where she's heading.
She lies down and follows a fluffy bunny cloud,
While tryin' to forget the future crowd.
Shuts her eyes and sees pale yellow,
Wishing she had a nice fellow.
She sits up and acts quickly,
She is feeling very sickly.
Red poors out her dainty mouth,
By now the night is heading south.
Arrives on time, and though quite pale,
Manages not to act tutu stale.
Takes a shot, and then another,
Running further from her mother.
Finds comfort in watching a blushing bride,
Feeling pulls from high tide.
Eyes leap to baby in a stroller,
Lily wishes on a three leaf clover.
'Let me be beautiful one day!
Let this self-hatred go away!'
Sweet sweet Lily of the Valley,
yes, it's all true, quite sadly.
Lily, in all her dissaray,
hid her cuts, tears and dismay.
Pretty taffeta red dress,
Cover up Lily's bloody mess.
