New Video: Kerli Has A Forest Party For Her “Army Of Love”

Estonian pop princess Kerli is a peaceful soul (well except for that out-of-character tirade against Lady GaGa earlier in the year) so when she decided to build up her very own army, her troops we’re going to be lovers, not fighters.

In her brand new video for the song Army Of Love, the blonde beauty walks the streets, gathering followers for her loving army. She eventually recruits a large bunch of Moon Children and they spread their message of love at a rocking late night forest party with the infectious song as their anthem.

Estonia's Kerli Unleashes "Army Of Love"

Yesterday, Estonia's Kerli released her anticipated video for "Army of Love" and the clip does not disappoint. Last week, I had the pleasure of interviewing Kerli at an L.A. restaurant for a CNN.com feature I'm working on and the singer said there are more songs like this on her forthcoming set for Island records (and that she was influenced by a lot of older Europop when writing the new material). "Army of Love" is a fantastic video with a mystical feel, shot in and around an abandoned Estonian city around 10 miles from the Russian border. Have a look and listen below.

In the clip, Kerli, clad in a tacky white chocolate goth ensemble, marches around the Estonian countryside calling out to her ‘Moon Children’ (her version of Monsters or Lambs) to join together to form a big loving army. Once joined together, the group all head into the forest for a 90′s style outdoor rave, while Kerli rides a horse and then transforms into an elf on a swing.

“Army of Love” is the first offering from Kerli’s upcoming sophomore album, which is due out sometime next year.

Kerli’s Foster Moon Children draw near…

Estonian singer Kerli is signed to Island Def Jam, and just released the single “Army of Love.” The song stands for “the invasion of creativity and beauty” but to me it looks more like a propaganda film for winter whites. Apres ski cocoa or scotch, moon children?

If you like the song you can download it for free here. But you’re gonna have to figure out for yourself where to enlist. The buildings in this video looks like Governor’s Island but I’m probs wrong/just miss those jazz age lawn parties… Kerli’s studio album should drop early next year.

What do you think? I probably wouldn’t say no to being in a foxhole with any of these ladeez, but obviously stuffed animals/dirt are things they have no time for. Can I be in the unicorn infantry??

To prep people for Kerli's sophomore artist album is the teaser single, "Army of Love". Except the look and sound of this single to set the tone for her new album, which appears to be ditching her twisted lolita/alterna-chick approach that she used on her first album. "Army of Love" draws from a lot of obvious inspirations. Specifically, I hear Bjork, Avril Lavigne, Ke$ha, and Lady Gaga, although someone I asked for an opinion of the track also thought it might have been Robyn. Whether blatantly selling out or making a true artistic shift in musical direction, "Army of Love" is catchy and may just make Kerli more accessible across the board. I'm curious to see how much of her original sound she keeps on her new album.

Kerli Forms Her 'Army of Love' in New Music Video
Kerli creates her own army in her latest music video, but it's different from any other army. It's "Army of Love" which "stands for the invasion of creativity and beauty" and is represented in "white and pastel colors" with backdrop of her Estonian hometown, the forest and the city.

She told PopEater, "I really wanted to create a visual that started from the ashes and grew into something more epic, like representing an idea or a dream that becomes a reality when you really decide to go for it." Recalling the process of creating the costumes, she said, "We get some alien-looking work outfits and we become this mad scientist for the three weeks to come. And the place we set all of this up also gets its name accordingly. We name it the lab."

The single is a pre-cursor to Kerli's upcoming studio album which will have "a lot of light." She once dished out, "It's a very strong album. It's mostly about overcoming the darkness in me..overcoming blaming the world for what's wrong...taking responsibility, being inspired and inspiring others."

If Russian techno music mated with a My Little Pony, it would probably spawn Kerli, an Estonian pop tart whose insane style (Teddy bears wearing gas masks? Really?) is compulsively watchable. If you like your music with a snap-crackle-pop back beat, and a hefty smear of MAC Lip Glass, this is a new must.
