Helena's Treasure Box

I sometimes write some stuff as well, mostly very very simple, almost childish things. I don't really use punctuation in my poems, hope that doesn't put you off.

yes i ran for cover it’s exactly what i did
little have i ever known of freedom being free
so what imprisoned us perhaps the sweetest sovereignty
what else is there to fight for hand by hand now honestly

for intelligence we’ve got a pound of flesh to pay
it’s either heart or brain my dear there is no middle way
they’ll always choose the brain yet i could never call them wise
for how can anyone be wise without a heart inside

i ran and hid from all of this i need the middle way
i am a better woman yes i am above this game
one day i will get to know the truth of being free
acceptance being loved for nothing more than simply Me

gold and silver they push me away
the shiny the glossy the pretty
dressing up fancy to fit with the sway
belong with the charming the witty

candlelit dinners and strawberries champagne
the standard the words often stolen
let’s leave it to those who know nothing of pain
just tell me of simple things write me a poem

spotlight’s gonna warm our face
